Family History

We come from a humble line of shoemakers with strong family roots here in Melide. Our family has always believed in living in harmony with the local farming culture, and with the surrounding natural environment. By giving our name to the Lodge we hope to make you feel part of our family.

Chiquitín Melide

And so we come to the Chiquitín Melide itself. Blending tradition and modernity, it features an ethnographic exhibition on the ground floor about the work of our shoemaking ancestors. You´ll also fin dan added exhibition about the craftsmen who contributed to the construction of the town and its beauty: clogmakers, masons, etc… The Lodge has sixteen fully-up-to-date rooms with bathrooms, television and heating. There is also a terrace of 150 square metres, where you can admire the view of the natural landscape.

In addition you can enjoy our wine-cellar and a meson-restaurant with capacity for fifty people. Here you´ll savour a variety of tasty dishes—the most succulent sausages from the region, as well as Galicia and Spain; the characteristic meats of Melide: pork, lamb and veal; fresh seafood and shellfish brought by Galician sailors, with special attention paid to octopus which is a delicacy; the characteristic Galician broth and stew; and other speciality dishes many of which are made from local ingredientes straight from the farm.

In this gastronomic journey, the desserts play and important role, especially the local sweet buns and macaroons, as well as the home-made desserts, principally the sponge cake which carries the name of the house, Chiquitín Melide. Wines are equally important, and we offer a wide range from our cellar, which features Galician wines of various denoinations (Rías Baixas, Ribeiro, Ribeira Sacra, Valdeorras and Monterrei) as well as Spanish wines from Rioja and Ribera del Duero. Definitively, a wide gastronomic range combining the best of home-made and modern cuisine.
